Origins 
The bloodhound of Artois or Chien d'Artois are more commonly well-known in their native France as Briquet that as it seems it means “small braco”. The Briquet Hounds originals was big and heavy, and they were replaced in the hunt fields by the Basset Artésien Normand of short paws. The current Artois is the result of the crossing of a bloodhound with a braco and Normand only differs of the Basset Artésien in that has the flattest ears and the most narrow head. With their sweet and melancholic expression, the intelligent and valiant bloodhound of Artois is used now in his majority for the hare. One usually has in pack, external kennels and it is taken care by professionals of the hunt.
