Origins
This race has reputation of being descending of the Greek Simocyon who in turn is related with the old Molossus. Big and strong, with an enormous head, the Romanian shepherd looks like each other enough to the San Bernardo. It has been used to hunt wolves and bears and it is very extended still in their native earth to keep the flocks. It was recognized by the Society Canine Romanian in 1937, but it is not very well-known outside of their origin country.
Character and cares
The Romanian shepherd is more appreciated by his abilities to work that as company animal. He/she is a good guardian, loyal to their owner and distrustful with the strangers; He/she needs regular exercise, and their heavy mantel a regular brushing.
