|
The pheasant is a hunt bird, of those which, the male is for general rule of colors and more brilliant aspect is that the female. They pass great part of the time in the floor, looking for their food. They dig the earth with the feet, like they make the domestic hens, looking for seeds, worms and insects. They have long and powerful paws that allow them to run far and quickly, so many times they prefer to escape running instead of flying, when they are pursued. However, when they lift the flight, they can make it almost vertically with their short but wide wings. Many pheasants nest in the floor, making a hole under a bush, or even, among leaves died in the floor of the forest. Some species prefer to put their eggs in high position, and in these cases usually adopt the old nest of another bird, as that of some dove. Although some pheasants are polygamous, and even promíscuos, at least 16 goods are monogamous. As hunt birds they have been introduced everywhere with success. There are numerous races of the common pheasant Phasianus Colchicus coming from Asia. The green pheasant Phasianus Versicolor is in a similar way but he/she is only it in the Japan. The sanguine pheasant Ithaginis Cruentus a partridge appears for her form and size, feet of color are very delicate. The male is gray blued, green pale in the stomach and rosy marks in the neck and under the line. They live to March of altitude that any other pheasant in the mountains of the center of Asia between the 2700 and the 4500 meters high, according to the time. The Pucracia Macrolopha is of medium size and of dark colors. The male has dark and brown long green crest of feathers, the head is green and quarter note and the superior parts of the body are of color gray lined silver plating of chestnut tree. The female is of dark tones. He/she is found in Malaysia from Afghanistan until Nepal's center and to the northwest of Tibet and the east of Chinese, and he/she lives in forest it is mountainous to 1300 meters high. Thick and robust, the males of three species of Lophophorus are the brilliantly most colored in all the pheasants. The iridescent shine of its plumage only admits comparison with that of the hummingbirds. Their distribution goes from the this Afghanistan until Chinese, always for mountainous areas. They dig with the pick and they don't use for it the feet. The ten species belonging to the gender Lophura is those of more size and they have long paws with big rams. The line is compressed and in comb form. He/she has big ears peeled in the face, around those of the eyes (you blue in two of the species and red in all the other ones). All they are big and attractive birds, adapted to live in big altitudes that you/they obtain their food digging with their powerful picks. They proceed of Chinese, Tibet, and Mongolia. The gender Catreus Wallichi, is of similar green coloration and dark chestnut tree in both sexes. He/she lives in the forests of the western Himalaya and Nepal, between the 1200 and the 3000 meters of altitude. There are other five species, defined as pheasants of long line, Syrmaticus that include the pheasant of Elliot, of the east of Chinese, that of the line barrada of Burma, the pheasant mikado of Taiwan, the coppery of Japan and that of Reeves of China. This last it is the more servant in captivity and the good known one. The two species of pheasant rufo Chrysolophus, the gilding and that of Lady Amherst, is of the most beautiful and popular. The males, in the nuptial retinue, deploy their plumage it is to the way of the real turkeys both species they come from the mountains of the center of China. The Polyplectron is small with plumage of complicated drawings. They only put two eggs in each incubation. There are six species that inhabit the tropical forests of the southeast of Asia, from the east of the Himalaya; toward the south of Sumatra and to the east until I Bend and Polawan. The great argus, Argusianus argus, is one of the specialized pheasants, and although the male's plumage lacks the brilliant colors that they have those of other species, it compensates more than enough because its unfolding, is one of the most remarkable that can be in the world of the birds. The secondary feathers of the wings are very wide, and of great longitude, with a line of beautiful eyes along each feather, while the two central feathers of the line are also long, and they are wound toward the end. During the unfolding, the male argus is faced with the female, it beats and it extends its wings; and it bends them until playing their head. The tips of the two feathers of the line are projected above the arch of feathers. He/she lives in the tropical forests of Malay, Sumatra and I Bend. The male prepares an area for the unfoldings, from which attracts the females with his deep song. The male of the argus crestado Rheinartia ocellata is remarkable for the longitude and width of the central feathers of its line that 1,5 m reaches of long and 15 cm of wide. Their customs resemble each other to those of the previous one, and he/she inhabits the tropical forests of Vietnam, Laos and the peninsula of Malaca.
